How to play Blackjack

1
The deal
Everyone, and the dealer, gets 2 cards. One of the dealer's cards stays face down.
2
Your turn
Hit to take another card, or stand to keep your total. Players take their turns one after another.
3
The dealer
The dealer flips the hidden card and draws until it has 17 or more.
4
Who wins
Closer to 21 than the dealer wins. Going over 21 is a bust and loses. The same total as the dealer is a push.

The rules

Cards 2 to 10 count their number. Jacks, Queens and Kings count 10. An Ace counts 1 or 11, whichever helps you.
Everyone plays against the dealer, never against each other, so a whole group can win the same hand.
Split: if your first two cards are a pair, you can play them as two hands.
The dealer always draws to 17 and then stops.
Deal again starts a new hand for the same table.

Tips to win

Guess that the dealer's hidden card is worth 10. Most cards in the deck are.
With 12 to 16 against a dealer's 2 to 6, think about standing and let the dealer go over.
With 17 or more, standing is usually the safe move.
Split Aces and 8s. Never split a pair of 10s: 20 is already a strong hand.
