About Number Memory

Number Memory is our take on the famous chimp test, played as a synchronized group elimination. Each round, numbers appear scattered across a 36-cell grid, starting with just three and adding one more every round. Study the layout, then tap 1 to begin: the moment you commit, the numbers vanish and you must tap the hidden cells in ascending order from pure spatial memory.

One wrong tap eliminates you on the spot. Every player still in faces the same board at the same time, with live progress visible across the lobby, and when the field is whittled down to one player, the survivor banks 20 points. Your deepest round is saved as a personal record.

Number Memory Rules

  • Each round, numbered cells appear on a 6x6 grid: three numbers in round one, plus one more each round after.
  • Memorize the positions, then tap 1 to lock in; the numbers immediately hide.
  • Tap the cells in ascending order from memory. Empty cells are ignored, but tapping the wrong number eliminates you.
  • All surviving players face the same board simultaneously, with everyone's progress shown live.
  • When every survivor finishes the round, a bigger layout is generated and the next round begins.
  • The last player standing wins 20 points; your deepest round is logged as your personal score.

Tips to Win

  • Trace the path 1-2-3 with your eyes several times before committing; sequence beats snapshot.
  • Build a story or shape from the layout, like "down the left, jump to the corner"; spatial narratives outlast raw positions.
  • Do not tap 1 until you are ready. The memorization phase is untimed, and rushing it is the classic blunder.
  • Once the numbers hide, move decisively. Second-guessing mid-run corrupts the memory you walked in with.
  • Deep rounds reward anchoring: memorize the three highest numbers separately, since that is where runs die.

Best for

For brain-training regulars who have met the chimp test and want to know how they rank against friends instead of a benchmark site. Solo players get an honest working-memory workout with a saved record to beat, while groups get a wonderfully tense elimination format where everyone fails the same board and nobody can blame the dice.

Number Memory FAQ

The moment you tap 1. Until then you can study the board as long as you like, so take your time before committing.

Instant elimination for the session. Tapping an empty cell is ignored, though, so only a genuinely wrong number ends your run.

Round one starts with 3, and every round adds one more. Strong players push into the 8 to 10 number range where the grid gets genuinely cruel.

Yes. Solo runs use the same escalating rounds and save your best result, making it a clean daily brain-training exercise.
