About Horse Race

Horse Race is a quick party race for the whole room. Four house horses line up, Comet, Blossom, Clover and Blaze, and before the start every player has ten seconds to pick the one they think will win. Then a 3, 2, 1 countdown runs on one clock for everyone and the race is on. Each horse runs at its own pace, drawn fresh for every race: some start fast and fade, others come from behind, so the lead can change right up to the line.

Nobody just watches. Every player gets a Push button for their horse: ten pushes to start, and two more every second. A horse gains the average push of its backers, so one fan pushing alone counts as much as five pushing together. When a horse crosses the line, its backers share 100 points, so a lonely right pick takes all of them. A race takes about half a minute from the pick to the finish, which is why rooms run them back to back.

How to Play Horse Race

  1. The host presses Start the race.
  2. Everyone picks a horse within 10 seconds. You can see who backs which horse, and you can switch until the time is up.
  3. A 3, 2, 1 countdown, then the horses run.
  4. Tap Push to speed your horse up. You start with 10 pushes and get 2 more every second.
  5. The first horse across the line wins, and its backers share 100 points.

Horse Race Rules

  • The host starts the race. Every player then has 10 seconds to pick one of the four horses: Comet, Blossom, Clover or Blaze.
  • Once everyone has picked, the countdown starts early. The 3, 2, 1 runs on the same clock for everyone.
  • Each horse runs at its own pace, drawn fresh for every race, so every phone shows the same race.
  • During the race, tap Push to speed your horse up: 10 pushes to start, 2 more every second.
  • A horse gains the average push of its backers, so one player pushing alone counts as much as five.
  • The first horse across the line wins. Its backers share 100 points; if nobody backed it, nobody scores that race.
  • Playing alone, you race the three house horses.

Tips to Win

  • Look at the faces on each horse before the time runs out. A horse with fewer backers pays each of them more when it wins.
  • Keep pushing for the whole race. Pushes refill, so a push you do not use is a push you lose.
  • Backing the same horse as a friend splits the points but does not add up the pushes: a horse runs on its backers' average.
  • Spend your first ten pushes early, then tap each time a new one comes in.
  • Do not give up on a slow start. Some horses are closers and finish fast.

Best for

Built for parties and calls that need a quick round between longer games. There is nothing to learn: pick a horse, tap to push it. Kids, grandparents and the friend who never reads the rules can all play, and the shared pot gives competitive groups something to argue about. It also works alone, against the three house horses.

Horse Race FAQ

Each horse runs at its own pace, drawn fresh for every race, and its backers speed it up by tapping Push. A horse gains the average push of its backers.

The backers of the winning horse share 100 points. One backer alone takes all 100, two backers take 50 each. If nobody backed the winner, nobody scores that race.

Both. The paces are luck, but pushing helps: a horse pushed the whole race beats one pushed once a second about seven times in ten.

Yes. Alone, you pick a horse and race the three house horses. Pushing all race wins about two races in three.

About half a minute: up to 10 seconds to pick, a 3 second countdown and about 15 seconds of racing. Most rooms run several in a row.
